Susquehanna at Mountain View

On Tuesday night, the Susquehanna Sabers varsity boys basketball team snapped a ten game losing streak at Mountain View, defeating the Eagles by a score of 50-44.  With the win, the Sabers improved their record to 4-12, 2-8. 

Andrzej Tomczyk led the Sabers with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals.  Cole Mallery added 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 steals while Dan Biegert contributed 6 rebounds and Austin Cowperthwait recorded a team high 4 assists. 



The JV team lost a well-played game by the score of 46-35.  With the loss, the JV Sabers saw their two game win streak snapped.

The Sabers are off until Friday when they travel to Elk Lake to take on the Warriors.  JV Game time is set to tip off at 6:00 PM.

Blue Ridge vs. Susquehanna

Coaches vs. Cancer Saturday in the Lackawanna League saw the Sabers hosting the Blue Ridge Raiders.  The JV Sabers got the day started off right with their second consecutive win and third overall by the score of 48-44.  Josh Wheeler led the overall team effort with 19 points. 

The Varsity Sabers (3-12, 1-8) found themselves in a large halftime deficit which they could not overcome, losing by a score of 83-72.  Andrzej Tomczyk (24 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists), Cole Mallery (21 points, 16 rebounds) and Dan Biegert (12 points, 4 assists) led the way for Susquehanna.





The Sabers will be on the road for two games next week, beginning on Tuesday night at Mountain View.  JV game time is set for 6:00 PM.

Forest City vs. Susquehanna

Thursday night saw the 2nd half of Lackawanna League Division III play begin with the Sabers hosting the Foresters from Forest City.

The JV team was able to earn their 2nd victory of the season, defeating Forest City by a score of 30-29.  Josh Wheeler led the Sabers with 11 points.

The varsity team was not as fortunate.  Finding themselves in two separate 18 point deficits, the Sabers were able to claw their way back before losing to the Foresters 58-56.  Cole Mallery recorded a double-double for Susquehanna (3-11, 1-7) with 31 points and 12 rebounds.  Andrzej Tomczyk contributed 13 points and 5 assists while Dan Biegert pulled down 8 rebounds. 

The Sabers are off until Saturday afternoon, when they host rival Blue Ridge on Coaches vs. Cancer night.  JV top time is 2:00 PM.

Lackawanna Trail vs. Susquehanna

On Thursday night, the Sabers finished up the first half of the Lackawanna League Division III schedule with two losses at the hands of the Lions. In the JV game, the Sabers showed more effort in the second half, but couldn't make up a sizable halftime deficit in falling to the Lions by the score of 44-22.  Josh Wheeler led the Sabers with 9 points.

In the nightcap, Andrzej Tomczyk's 26 points and 4 steals were not enough as the Sabers (3-10, 1-6) lost 69-56.  Dan Biegert added 8 points and Austin Cowperthwait handed out 4 assists.

The Sabers are scheduled to travel to Berwick on Saturday to take on the Bulldogs.  JV game time is 1:00 PM.

Montrose vs. Susquehanna

On Tuesday night, the Sabers boys basketball teams both suffered home defeats to the Montrose Meteors.  Luke Falletta led the JV Sabers in their game with a team high 10 points.

In the varsity game, the Sabers (3-9, 1-5) battled the Meteors throughout the second half, but could get no closer than 10 points.  Andrzej Tomczyk led the Sabers in scoring with 22 points.  Cole Mallery recorded a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds and Dan Biegert chimed in with 12 points and 4 assists.

The Sabers finish the first half of their division schedule on Thursday night at home against the Lackawanna Trail Lions.  JV tip is scheduled for 6:00 PM.

Susquehanna vs. Lakeland

At Lakeland on Sunday, the JV and Varsity boys teams were both dealt losses by the Lakeland Chiefs.

On the varsity level, the Sabers saw their season record fall to 3-8, 1-4 following their 76-37 loss.  Andrzej Tomczyk was the lone Saber in double figures with 11 points.  Cole Mallery contributed 9 points, Mark Zappe 6 and Dan Biegert 5. 

The Sabers are off until Tuesday, when they host the division leading Montrose Meteors.  JV tip time is 6:00 PM.

Elk Lake vs. Susquehanna

The Elk Lake Warriors completed a sweep of the Susquehanna Sabers boys basketball teams on Tuesday night.  The JV team lost 43-20, with Kyle MacDonald leading the way for the Sabers with 9 points.

In varsity action, the Sabers lost 54-37, to see their season record fall to 3-7, 1-3 in division play.  Andrzej Tomczyk scored 16 points and added 11 rebounds and 3 assists while Mark Zappe scored 8 points, hauled down 9 rebounds and blocked 8 shots. 

The Sabers are off until Sunday afternoon, when they travel to Lakeland to take on the Chiefs.  JV game time is scheduled for 2:00 PM.

Mountain View vs. Susquehanna

The Sabers basketball teams lost another pair of home games on Friday night when the JV team fell 45-37 and the varsity lost a close game by the score of 44-41 to the visiting Eagles. 

The JV team was led by Brandon Rafferty's 7 points, while Luke Falletta and Kyle MacDonald contributed 6 points each.

The varsity was led by Andrzej Tomczyk's 14 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists.  Austin Cowperthwait contributed 9 points and 9 rebounds, while Brandon Soden chipped in with 9 points as well. 

The Sabers (3-6, 1-2) are off until Tuesday night when they host the Elk Lake Warriors.  The JV game will begin at 6:00 PM.

Susquehanna vs. Blue Ridge

The Sabers JV and Varsity basketball teams both suffered losses on Tuesday night at Blue Ridge. 

The JV team lost a close, back and forth battle by the score of 27-24.  The Sabers were led by Brandon Raffety (9 points) and Kyle MacDonald (7 points).

The Varsity team started the game strong, but Blue Ridge pulled away in the second half for a 65-46 victory.  The Sabers (3-5, 1-1) were led by Andrzej Tomczyk (25 points, 8 rebounds) and Dan Biegert (8 rebounds).  Brandon Soden also chipped in with 6 points.



The Sabers are off until Friday, when they host Mountain View.  JV game time is slated for 6:00 PM.
